The Big Event April 7, 2018: The Big Event is an annual day of community service observed by colleges (and high schools) across the country to unify campus and community through one big day of service and gratitude (projects such as painting, yard work, and visiting with the elderly). The 2018 event will be the 19th year for OU to participate. In 2016, OU began an initiative to start this single day of community service at OU Alumni Clubs around the country to allow members of the Sooner Family to continue giving thanks to their local communities even after graduation. The Houston and Austin clubs lead the 2017 charge, and the OU goal for 2018 is to have even more clubs/societies participate. See the attached Big Event November Newsletter. Additional information will be provided to us in the coming months on how we can get involved.
This would be an excellent way to raise the visibility of our KC Club while giving back to our Greater KC community. Perhaps you’ve had prior experience with the Big Event at OU and/or other community service events and could consider being on the team, or better yet, being the event leader.
